I love the unique. Roadside attractions can be great sources of inspiration, or sometimes just outright wonder. Travelling through Alabama I visited a roadside gem called, “The Museum of Wonder”. A display of the artwork and collections of artist Butch Anthony. A small donation was requested, and we proceded.
It’s a drive-thru wonder! A few shipping containers carefully arranged and stacked, with windows showcasing the exhibits within. Everything from taxidermy and preserved animals, to found object art. I feel that if I were to see it again, I’d see more.
When I got home, I was interested in learning more about the artist. I found his website to be just as interesting visually as his museum was. If you’re interested in learning more: www.museumofwonder.com.
Pictured above, two of several stencils painted on the outside of the containers, creating an interesting exterior in addition to the interest within.
Trophies for the underachiever.
Terrifying, but interesting, all the same.
